Help Mercedes with an overdue electricity bill before winter

The electricity account is 2 months behind. Mercedes received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $150 is paid. She had never been late before my partner leaving the household. Mercedes called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $30 first, which isn't available.
