Help me pay for spinal decompression surgery at Saint Matthew Hospital
Caroline needs spinal decompression surgery at Saint Matthew Hospital and the family is $6,600 short of the hospital's estimate.

In August I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $8,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $6,600 short.
Doctors at Saint Matthew Hospital told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $8,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $6,600 goes:
• Post-operative medication: $230
• Physiotherapy sessions: $820
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $290
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,800
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $1,460
With deep gratitude,
Caroline

Thinking of you and your family. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Bangkok.
Stay strong. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My neighbor in Campinas donated after I showed her your page. God bless!
