Help me pay for spinal decompression surgery at Nairobi University Hospital
A scheduled spinal decompression surgery in September is out of reach without help covering $1,000 of the cost.

In June I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Nairobi University Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,350, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,000 short.
Doctors at Nairobi University Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,350 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $420
• Hospital stay (2 nights): $250
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $120
• Post-operative medication: $30
• Physiotherapy sessions: $130
• Travel and lodging for the family: $50
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

wishing you the best, Mwangi. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Jakarta.
