Help me pay for spinal decompression surgery at Madina Community Hospital

After a large ovarian cyst, Gloria was cleared for spinal decompression surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Madina
In October I was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst. My surgeon at Madina Community Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for January. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,750, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $1,300 short. Doctors at Madina Community Hospital told me a large ovarian cyst will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,750 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,300 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $620 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $440 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $85 • Post-operative medication: $30 • Physiotherapy sessions: $105 • Travel and lodging for the family: $20 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot. - Gloria

So sorry you're going through this. Your post was clear and honest. Put this on a community board in Milan this morning. Take care.

    • Sending good thoughts, Gloria. Shared it with a few friends. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best

      • Sending strength. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best.

        • Hang in there, Gloria. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Epe.

          • Wishing you the best, Gloria. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Thinking of Madina.
