Help me pay for spinal decompression surgery at Kampala University Hospital

After a hip fracture that never healed properly, Muthoni was cleared for spinal decompression surgery, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In April I was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly. My surgeon at Kampala University Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $930, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $650 short. Doctors at Kampala University Hospital told me a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a warehouse packer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $930 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a warehouse packer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to work a full shift during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $650 goes: • Post-operative medication: $20 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $240 • Physiotherapy sessions: $75 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $315 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Muthoni

Post-operative medication is $20 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Let me know if you want more detail.
