In August I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Kisumu Community Hospital recommended hip replacement surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $700 short.
Doctors at Kisumu Community Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without hip replacement surgery. I work as a retail assistant, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a retail assistant have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Onyango
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. pre-operative tests and imaging comes first ($85) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
