In June I was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. My surgeon at Los Angeles Community Hospital recommended gallbladder removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $11,750, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $7,000 short.
Doctors at Los Angeles Community Hospital told me a benign brain tumor will get worse without gallbladder removal. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $11,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

what exactly is the $7,000 for?
Hospital stay (2 nights) is $3,050 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Happy to explain more.
