Help me pay for cataract surgery at Pune Community Hospital

A scheduled cataract surgery in July is out of reach without help covering $550 of the cost.

In May I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Pune Community Hospital recommended cataract surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for July. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $790, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $550 short. Doctors at Pune Community Hospital told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without cataract surgery. I work as a school bus driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $790 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a school bus driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $550 goes: • Post-operative medication: $65 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $70 • Physiotherapy sessions: $50 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $365 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Pranav
