Tokyo
In October I was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction. My surgeon at Tokyo Regional Medical Center recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for January. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $5,250, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $3,900 short. Doctors at Tokyo Regional Medical Center told me a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $5,250 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $3,900 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $240 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $290 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $2,800 • Physiotherapy sessions: $570 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Masaru

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. travel and lodging for the family comes first ($240) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks, that means a lot.
