In December I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Saint Petersburg Orthopedic Institute recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for February. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,750, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $2,200 short. Doctors at Saint Petersburg Orthopedic Institute told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a delivery rider, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,750 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a delivery rider have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 3 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $2,200 goes: • Hospital stay (4 nights): $930 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,100 • Physiotherapy sessions: $170 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

sending good thoughts, Maksym. Hope this works out for you

    • So sorry you're going through this. This could happen to any of us. After 7 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Saint Petersburg.

      • rooting for you. Shared it with a few friends. Put this on a community board in Piraeus this morning

        • Best of luck, Maksym. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope March is when things finally get easier. All the best.
