In August I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Bang Khen General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $2,200, and after what the government subsidy will pay, I'm still $1,100 short.
Doctors at Bang Khen General Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. I work as a taxi driver, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $2,200 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a taxi driver have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to climb stairs during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Sure. The biggest one is post-operative medication, $95. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
