I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying an electrical engineering diploma at Porto Alegre Community College, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $1,450.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the Porto Alegre Community College bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Final term tuition: $690
• Outstanding tuition balance: $640
• Exam and lab fees: $120

Thinking of you, Camila. Your post was clear and honest. Greetings from Madrid
Thinking of you and your family, Camila. Looking forward to the next update. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Porto Alegre!
I hope things turn around soon. After 20 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything
hope it all works out, Camila. Hope this works out for you. Love from Taguig.
