I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying an electrical engineering diploma at Kanpur University, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a warehouse packer to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $455. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a top-ten-percent average, and my professor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Kanpur University bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $455 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $220 • Final term tuition: $230 • Exam and lab fees: $5 Glad we found this place.

Rooting for you. Hope you get there. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Thinking of Kanpur.

    • Rooting for you, Bhavna. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Greetings from Setagaya
