I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at the Tema Institute of Technology, and I'm one semester away from graduating. I have worked as a delivery rider to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $600. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my department head has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the the Tema Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $600 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $175 • Final term tuition: $320 • Exam and lab fees: $45 • Textbooks and materials: $60 If you're reading this, thank you. - Kwadwo

Updates from Kwadwo

  1. Update from Tema: I met with the university and confirmed the amounts. We're at 80% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 63% now ($375). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($325 in total) I made the first payment toward outstanding tuition balance. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

good luck. This could happen to any of us. I went through something like this 4 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Tema.

reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Mandaue.
