I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a diploma in hospitality management at Tacoma Polytechnic, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a library assistant to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $4,050. The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a 3.9 average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan. Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility. I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student. The payment will go directly to the Tacoma Polytechnic bursar's office. I'll post the receipt. Where the $4,050 goes: • Outstanding tuition balance: $2,900 • Final term tuition: $1,000 • Exam and lab fees: $150 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Josefa

Thank you. If you're in Tacoma I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Fair thing to want to know.

  • Hope things get better soon, Josefa. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Greetings from Paris.
