Dharan
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Saturday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 176 each week. Donations have dropped by about 34% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dharan market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $500 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $270 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $125 • Baby formula and diapers: $35 • Refrigeration and electricity: $70 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Updates from Maya

  1. Quick update: $109 raised so far (22%). I made the first payment toward refrigeration and electricity. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($59 in total) the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 2% now ($10). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward baby formula and diapers.
