Mason was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections in August. The surgeon at Birmingham Community Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $11,500, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $6,900 short.
my father has been in and out of Birmingham Community Hospital since August. The doctors say a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $11,500 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Mason struggles with daily life and can't drive. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Mason won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
