Mathilde, my sister, passed away on 7 June after complications from pneumonia. She was 86 years old. She was the heart of our family and had no savings or life insurance. The funeral home has given us a quote of $1,700 and the cemetery needs payment before the burial date of 23 June. I have already used what I had for the hospital bills. My family is scattered, and many of us are out of work. We want Mathilde to have a dignified farewell. Any help at all means a lot, and so do your prayers. Anything left over after the funeral will be donated to a neighborhood youth program. Where the $1,700 goes: • Memorial gathering for the family: $290 • Funeral home services and casket: $1,150 • Transport of the deceased: $260 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
