Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Sunday from the back of a community center. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 157 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Duisburg market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,650
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $440
• Baby formula and diapers: $190
• Refrigeration and electricity: $320
Thanks for being kind about this.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Marlene.
It's all in the list in the story. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is the big one at $1,650, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. I'll keep the page updated.
Thinking of you and your family, Marlene. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Greetings from Leicester.
Hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
