Since 2019, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Wednesday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 11 families, and now we feed 339 each week. Donations have dropped by about 32% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the São Paulo market and keep every receipt. Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $800 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $300 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $270 • Baby formula and diapers: $155 • Refrigeration and electricity: $75 Every share and every dollar helps.

  • Take care. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 7 years in engineering I know how hard it is to ask for anything.

    • Gave what I could, wish it was more. I hope January is when things finally get easier. All the best

      • sending love. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care.

        • Keep going. More neighborhoods should do this. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Blessings.
