Maria is the first person in the family to go to university. She is studying a computer science degree at Londrina State College, and is two terms away from graduating. She has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $1,700.
The registrar has said Maria can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Maria has a first-class average, and a faculty supervisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Maria would lose her place and scholarship eligibility.
Maria isn't asking for a handout - She wants to finish what She started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
