Help Lucky keep the Neighbors' Pantry pantry stocked
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Abuja is running low just as demand rises; $450 will stock it for 7 weeks.
🇳🇬 Abuja, Abuja FCT, Nigeria1,230 views
Since 2021, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Friday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 15 families, and now we feed 173 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 9 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Abuja market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $450 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $280
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $125
• Baby formula and diapers: $35
• Refrigeration and electricity: $10
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

You're not alone. Great idea, hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Irapuato.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Lucky
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($280) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Happy to explain more.
praying for you, Lucky. I hope things turn around soon. After 24 years in customer support I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from New Delhi
So sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Abuja
can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Abuja.
Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), advice is welcome too. Appreciate you taking the time.
sending love, Lucky. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Love from Thrissur.
Sending good thoughts, Lucky. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care.

Thinking of you and your family, Lucky. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. All the best.
