Lourdes was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in April. The surgeon at Ciudad de México University Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for July. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,150, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,700 short. my mother has been in and out of Ciudad de México University Hospital since April. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,150 is more than we can find. While we wait, Lourdes struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Lourdes won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,700 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $760 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $440 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $175 • Post-operative medication: $75 • Physiotherapy sessions: $90 • Travel and lodging for the family: $160 With deep gratitude, Andrea
