Lorena was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in January. The surgeon at Duque de Caxias University Hospital recommended knee replacement surgery, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,350, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $800 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Duque de Caxias University Hospital since January. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without knee replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,350 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lorena struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Lorena won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
