Help Levi keep his home - 5 months behind on rent
A sudden layoff left Levi short on rent for 5 months; help us stay in our home.
🇺🇸 New Orleans, Louisiana, United States1,144 views
After a car accident that kept me from work for 8 weeks, Levi fell 5 months behind on rent. Last Sunday a court summons for non-payment was taped to the door, and the amount owed is $900.
The landlord was understanding for a while, but has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, the family must leave.
There are 3 children at home. Moving would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
Levi has started working extra hours at a market stall, and is applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $900 goes:
• Utilities in arrears: $140
• First month of rent as a buffer: $470
• Late fees and court costs: $290
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of New Orleans.
