The the Second Helping pantry in Casablanca is running low just as demand rises; $400 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Saturday from the back of a community center. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 351 each week. Donations have dropped by about 55% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Casablanca market and keep every receipt. Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $400 goes: • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220 • Refrigeration and electricity: $85 • Baby formula and diapers: $95 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
