Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in Newport.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Sunday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 153 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 34% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 12 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Newport market and keep every receipt.
Each $35 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $630
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $490
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,430
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Wishing you the best, Leah. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it
Sending love, Leah. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Blessings.
Hope things get better soon, Leah. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
