Lawrence was diagnosed with an aortic valve defect in August. The surgeon at El Paso Regional Medical Center recommended a craniotomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,250, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $4,100 short.
my husband has been in and out of El Paso Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say an aortic valve defect will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,250 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lawrence struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Lawrence won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
