Laurent was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in February. The surgeon at Kelowna Regional Medical Center recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $4,950, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $3,950 short. my father has been in and out of Kelowna Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $4,950 is more than we can find. While we wait, Laurent struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Laurent won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
