Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Thursday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 14 families, and now we feed 256 each week. Donations have dropped by about 49% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Dhaka market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $165 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $145 • Baby formula and diapers: $75 • Refrigeration and electricity: $65 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Lamia

Updates from Lamia

  1. 28% there. I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts. Thank you. - Lamia

  2. Update from Dhaka: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 28% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 11% funded and the plan for baby formula and diapers is now scheduled.

  • Keep going. More neighborhoods should do this!

    • Is there anything that isn't money that would help Lamia?

Sharing the link is the biggest thing. And if you know anything about rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), advice is welcome too. Thanks for asking.

    • Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in Lahore but we're thinking of you.

      • Hope it all works out. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I hope November is when things finally get easier.

        • Good luck, Lamia. Hope this works out for you. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Dhaka
