Help Kwaku get through 5 hard months with twin daughters

Kwaku and twin daughters need a bridge to stability after a sudden redundancy.

Since a sudden redundancy in March, I'm now raising twin daughters on my own. I work as a hairdresser, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries. I'm retraining as a web developer in the evenings, which will triple my income by June, but I need to bridge the gap until then. Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them. Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward. Every cent is accounted for. I'll share a simple monthly breakdown. Where the $450 goes: • Course fees and exam costs: $125 • Groceries and school meals: $185 • Childcare and after-school care: $140 Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Kwaku.

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. course fees and exam costs comes first ($125) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid.

  • Hope things get better soon. Shared this with my family. My sister had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care

    • Keep going. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. After 23 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • So sorry you're going through this. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
