The water account is 2 months behind. Kioko received a disconnection notice that says service will be cut off on August unless $100 is paid. He had never been late before June's medical emergency. Kioko called the provider and asked about a payment plan, but they need a down payment of $30 first, which isn't available. The household includes three children under ten, and going through the rainy season without water isn't safe. Without it we can't refrigerate insulin and food, or keep the house at a safe temperature. Kioko is working on getting back on his feet, and wants to pay it forward once steady. The money will go directly to the utility provider, and I'll post the paid statement here. Where the $100 goes: • Gas arrears: $40 • Reconnection and late fees: $30 • Down payment on a payment plan: $30 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
