Feed 222 families each week at the Second Helping in Amsterdam
Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in Amsterdam.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Sunday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 24 families, and now we feed 222 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 33% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Amsterdam market and keep every receipt.
Each $55 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $3,000 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,300
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $1,150
• Baby formula and diapers: $420
• Refrigeration and electricity: $130
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
