Help Kendall keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked
Help keep a free food pantry open for families and seniors in Philadelphia.
🇺🇸 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States1,515 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 17 families, and now we feed 242 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 59% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Philadelphia market and keep every receipt.
Each $45 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Refrigeration and electricity: $420
• Baby formula and diapers: $520
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $1,510
Thanks for reading all this.
