Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Sunday Shelf every Tuesday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 9 families, and now we feed 96 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 8 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Lagos market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $400 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $195
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $85
• Baby formula and diapers: $75
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
Thank you so much.

Rooting for you, Kehinde. Hope you get there. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.
Wishing you peace. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Take care.

Thanks for sharing this. Hope this works out for you. I'm in hospitality myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Lagos.
Sending love, Kehinde. Great idea, hope you get there. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. Blessings.
wishing you the best, Kehinde. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day
