Kana was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in May. The surgeon at Shinjuku Orthopedic Institute recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,650, and after what our health plan will pay we're still $2,000 short. my sister has been in and out of Shinjuku Orthopedic Institute since May. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,650 is more than we can find. While we wait, Kana struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Kana won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $2,000 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $430 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $310 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $1,260 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
