Jocelyn was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in October. The surgeon at Cebu City Community Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for December. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,700, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $850 short.
my sister has been in and out of Cebu City Community Hospital since October. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,700 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Jocelyn struggles with daily life and can't walk without help. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Jocelyn won't be able to walk without help, so the costs keep growing.
