Jalandhar

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Saturday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 172 each week. Donations have dropped by about 47% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Jalandhar market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $300 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $135 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $70 • Baby formula and diapers: $80 • Refrigeration and electricity: $15 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Updates from Jignesh

Quick update: $159 raised so far (53%). I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Wanted to say thank you properly. 17% funded and I made the first payment toward rice, beans, flour and oil.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($30 in total) I made the first payment toward refrigeration and electricity. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
