Javier was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in August. The surgeon at Madrid General Hospital recommended palate reconstruction surgery, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $10,500, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,250 short. my son has been in and out of Madrid General Hospital since August. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without palate reconstruction surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $10,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Javier struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Javier won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $5,250 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,700 • Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,200 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $290 • Post-operative medication: $250 • Physiotherapy sessions: $650 • Travel and lodging for the family: $160 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

      • what's already covered and what's the $5,250 for?

        • Sure. The biggest one is surgeon and anesthesia fees, $1,700. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one.

      • keep going. Hope you get there. After 19 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
