Janani was diagnosed with kidney cancer in June. The oncology team at Mumbai Regional Medical Center has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in August. She will be away from work for about 8 weeks.
Janani is 51, worked as a nurse until June, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Mumbai Regional Medical Center 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $1,800 goes:
• Transport to Mumbai Regional Medical Center: $140
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,300
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $115
• Household costs while unable to work: $245
