James was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in August. The surgeon at Dodoma General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,050, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $800 short. my husband has been in and out of Dodoma General Hospital since August. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,050 is more than we can find. While we wait, James struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time James won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
