Since 2021, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Monday from the back of a borrowed garage. We started with 30 families, and now we feed 332 each week. Donations have dropped by about 38% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week. We rely on volunteers - 15 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Epe market and keep every receipt. Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week. All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs. Where the $450 goes: • Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $240 • Refrigeration and electricity: $40 • Fresh vegetables and fruit: $170 Thank you so much. - Ikenna

Updates from Ikenna

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($55 in total) the plan for fresh vegetables and fruit is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  2. Update from Epe: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 13% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 36% now ($160). I'm honestly stunned. the plan for refrigeration and electricity is now scheduled.
