Help Hitomi keep the Open Hands Pantry pantry stocked
The Open Hands Pantry pantry in Setagaya is running low just as demand rises; $2,200 will stock it for 8 weeks.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Monday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 175 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 41% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 7 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Setagaya market and keep every receipt.
Each $30 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $2,200 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $970
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $770
• Baby formula and diapers: $340
• Refrigeration and electricity: $120

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Hitomi
Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) is $970 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Fair thing to want to know.
