Help Henrique keep the the Second Helping pantry stocked
Help keep a free food pantry open for students and shift workers in São Paulo.
🇧🇷 São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil2,004 views
Since 2020, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Wednesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 18 families, and now we feed 157 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the São Paulo market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $170
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $540
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $290
Thanks for reading all this.

Wanted to say thank you properly. 43% funded and I met with the wholesaler and confirmed the amounts.
Quick update: $335 raised so far (34%). I made the first payment toward fresh vegetables and fruit. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

Stay strong, Henrique. Hope you get there. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Best of luck. More neighborhoods should do this. God bless.
Thinking of you and your family, Henrique. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Sent it to 29 people at work.
