Last August I went through a sudden redundancy, and I'm now raising a teenage son and a daughter in primary school on my own. I work as a hairdresser, but my income doesn't cover rent, childcare and groceries.
I'm retraining as a teaching assistant in the evenings, which will triple my income by November, but I need to bridge the gap until then.
Some weeks I skip meals so my children can eat. I have never asked anyone for help like this before, and I'm doing it for them.
Once I finish my course, I'll pay it forward.
Every cent is accounted for. I'll share a simple monthly breakdown.
Where the $2,250 goes:
• Rent top-up: $860
• Course fees and exam costs: $320
• Childcare and after-school care: $1,070
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Hang in there. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Heliopolis
Praying for you, Henri. Shared it with a few friends. Thinking of Toulon.
thinking of you. This could happen to any of us. After 29 years in engineering I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care
