Heloísa was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August. The oncology team at the São Paulo Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. She will be away from work for about 4 weeks.
Heloísa is 34, worked as a construction supervisor until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the São Paulo Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Transport to the São Paulo Oncology Institute: $185
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $1,850
• Scans and lab work: $260
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $155
