Hailey was diagnosed with a hip fracture that never healed properly in November. The surgeon at Saint Matthew Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for February. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,500, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $5,700 short. my mother has been in and out of Saint Matthew Hospital since November. The doctors say a hip fracture that never healed properly will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,500 is more than we can find. While we wait, Hailey struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. During that time Hailey won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $5,700 goes: • Physiotherapy sessions: $510 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,850 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $2,950 • Post-operative medication: $390 If you're reading this, thank you. - Beth

Updates from Beth

  1. Update from St. Petersburg: the plan for surgeon and anesthesia fees is now scheduled. We're at 24% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($1,225 in total) the plan for surgeon and anesthesia fees is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. We're at 6% thanks to 12 of you. I met with the hospital and confirmed the amounts. More news soon.

hope this works out for you. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of St. Petersburg.

          • Thinking of you and your family. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Quezon City so I could bring a meal. All the best
