Guadalupe won a place at Rochester Technical College but the family can't afford the uniform, books and laptop required.

I earned a place in Grade 9 at Rochester Technical College, and I couldn't be prouder. The school has a long list of things I need, including a laptop for the graphic design course, and a uniform. My mother works two jobs, and the list costs $600, which is more than we have. I love graphic design and want to become a software developer. A laptop will let me do coursework at home instead of waiting for library hours. I'll take care of everything you give me and I promise to work hard. Items on the list: laptop, uniform, shoes, textbooks, calculator and a bag. Where the $600 goes: • School uniform and shoes: $220 • Calculator, stationery and a school bag: $80 • Textbooks and workbooks: $300 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen. - Guadalupe

    • so sorry you're going through this, Guadalupe. Your post was clear and honest. After 12 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything
