Gloria was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in February. The surgeon at Southampton Regional Medical Center recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,000, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $5,450 short.
my wife has been in and out of Southampton Regional Medical Center since February. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Gloria struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Gloria won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
