Gerardo was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in August. The oncology team at the Zapopan Oncology Institute has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 10 weeks.
Gerardo is 56, worked as a bakery worker until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Zapopan Oncology Institute 3 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $3,400 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $2,150
• Scans and lab work: $540
• Transport to the Zapopan Oncology Institute: $200
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $250
• Household costs while unable to work: $260
